About Tank Software Program Links
You may notice that Tank Software prevents people from linking directally
to files by using a download script. You are also prevented from
linking to a file though the download script. This works though changing
links. The reason I have created this is not to prevent people from linking
to me totally - just to maintain the integrity of my programs.
Under my scheme, people can only link to a given program (an optionally a package)
this way - as a program gets updated the links will automatically point to the latest version
and the user doesn't end up downloading an old version when a new one exists without their knowlege.
This is good for them (they get more info) and me (less bug reports).
People who absolutally must have a direct link to an actuall file - I am willing to supply
you with one - just email will@omegadelta.net. This way I also know who is linking to me so I can
make sure those links do not die.
Linking a Tank Software program is easy. You can link the normal program page like so:
http://tanksoftware.com/ViewEntry.php?Entry=103
However that looks a bit ugly - and those links are not garenteed not to change (although that is unlikly for a while).
Instead - you can use a link such as this http://tanksoftware.com/?proj=minimap
which looks a lot neater - and is a more stable link (It should always work). If you would like to link directally to a package - then that is easy too -
just add another parameter - "pak=thename" where thename is the name of your package.
eg. http://tanksoftware.com/?proj=minimap&pak=minimap
You will notice that the latest version of the package you wish the user to see has been highlighted for their conveniance.
If you wish to jump them strait to that line - then add a #thename where thename is the name of your package to the end
eg: http://tanksoftware.com/?proj=minimap&pak=minimap#minimap
